Summer Camp Counselors
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors. In this role, you will play a vital part in creating a fun and enriching summer experience for children, combining academic learning with exciting outdoor activities.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and engage campers in a variety of activities, including academic sessions focused on reading and math.
- Plan and lead outdoor activities such as sports, games, nature walks, and gardening to promote physical activity and exploration.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times, both indoors and outdoors.
- Assist in facilitating swimming sessions, providing guidance and support to campers as they learn and practice swimming skills.
- Assist in cooking sessions where campers can learn basic cooking techniques, nutrition principles, and engage in hands-on food preparation.
- Foster a positive and inclusive camp environment where campers feel valued, supported, and encouraged to participate.
- Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp leadership to create engaging and age-appropriate activities that align with camp objectives and curriculum.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and staff members, providing updates on camp activities, camper progress, and any concerns or issues that arise.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with and engage children of varying ages and backgrounds.
- Knowledge or interest in academic subjects such as reading and math, as well as a passion for outdoor activities, sports, and nature.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain certification prior to camp start date).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrating flexibility, creativity, and a positive attitude.
- Must pass background checks and screenings required for working with children.
